LAOOI visited the “Ortoped” Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in Poltava

Rehabilitation Is More Than Recovery — It Is a Return to an Active Life The team of the Luhansk Association of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities , led by its Head, Mykola Nadulichnyi , visited the “Ortoped” Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in Poltava. During the visit, the team learned about the center’s work, modern approaches to prosthetic care, and comprehensive rehabilitation services for people who have lost limbs due to war, injuries, or illness. Particular attention was drawn to the fact that the center focuses not only on physical recovery but also on social reintegration and helping people return to independent, fulfilling lives. Rehabilitation equipment, sports activities, daily living skills training, and modern technologies, including virtual reality (VR) solutions, help patients regain their abilities, confidence, and motivation to move forward. For the Luhansk Association of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities, such visits provide an important opportunity to learn from successful practices, explore new approaches to supporting persons with disabilities, and strengthen cooperation between organizations working to promote accessibility, inclusion, and a dignified life for everyone. LAOOI Joined a Series of Safety Training Sessions

Safety Is an Integral Part of Humanitarian Work When working in frontline communities, it is essential not only to provide humanitarian assistance but also to be prepared to operate in high-risk environments. That is why the team of the Luhansk Association of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities participated in a series of safety training sessions held within the joint project “Comprehensive Protection and Support for Conflict-Affected Populations in Frontline Communities of Kharkiv and Donetsk Regions (Kramatorsk and Sloviansk Communities)” , implemented together with the Community Development Foundation NGO and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Ukraine . The participants received training in mine risk awareness, safety procedures during air raid alerts and drone attacks, as well as first aid. These skills help save lives and ensure that humanitarian assistance can be delivered safely, even in the most challenging conditions. We sincerely thank our partners and trainers for sharing practical knowledge that is of exceptional value today.

Exhibition “Accessibility Means Seeing the Person Beyond the Words” Opens in Lviv

Accessibility Begins with Words: An Exhibition in Lviv Promotes Respect for Every Person The exhibition “Accessibility Means Seeing the Person Beyond the Words” is currently on display at the Lviv Regional State Administration. More than just an art project, it serves as an important reminder that the words we choose shape how we treat one another — they can either break down barriers or create them. The exhibition highlights the importance of seeing the person first, rather than their diagnosis, disability, life circumstances, or past experiences. Behind every word is a human life, a personal story, dreams, and dignity. The display presents examples of both respectful and inappropriate language used when referring to persons with disabilities, veterans, children who have lost parental care, former prisoners of war, people who have lost their homes, and others who have faced difficult life circumstances. Visitors are encouraged to replace labels and stereotypes with language that respects human dignity and does not define people by their condition or experience. For the Luhansk Association of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (LAAOI), barrier-free communication is a critically important issue. Accessibility is not only about ramps, elevators, or accessible transportation. It is also about the culture of communication, the willingness to listen, understand, and respect one another. The exhibition was also visited by the Accessibility Ambassadors of the Lviv Region, including LAAOI Director Mykola Nadulichnyi, who has repeatedly emphasized that real change begins when society learns to see a person as a person first and foremost. We invite everyone to visit the exhibition and reflect on the power of words.
